Angolan Woman Arrested After Newborn Found Dead in Pit Latrine in Omusati

Police in the Omusati Region have launched a murder investigation after the body of a newborn baby boy was allegedly discovered in a pit latrine at Okafitu ka Kahala village in the Outapi Constituency.The incident reportedly took place on Sunday morning, 26 April 2026, at around 10h00.According to Omusati Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, a 37-year-old Angolan woman, who is employed as a domestic worker, allegedly gave birth before wrapping the infant in a cloth and disposing of him in the pit latrine.The woman has been arrested in connection with the case and is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital while under police guard.Authorities have opened a case of murder read with defeating or obstructing the course of justice. Investigations are continuing.
