Brother Killed While Trying to Stop Fight Between Siblings

A late-night family dispute in Grootfontein ended in tragedy when a 25-year-old man was fatally stabbed while trying to stop a fight between his siblings.
The incident unfolded on Monday night, 02 February 2026, at a residence in Kaap en Bou, Block 07. According to police, a heated confrontation broke out between a young man and his sister inside the family home. What began as a domestic disagreement quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
As tensions rose, their elder brother intervened in an attempt to separate the two and restore calm. However, during the struggle, the younger brother allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed the elder brother in the right shoulder. The wound was severe, and despite efforts to assist him, the victim died at the scene.
Police were alerted and responded to the incident shortly before midnight. The knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was recovered and secured as evidence. The deceased was later identified as Frankie Aukumeb, a 25-year-old Namibian national.
The suspect, a 21-year-old Namibian male, fled the scene but was later traced and arrested by police. The body of the deceased was transported to the Grootfontein State Hospital mortuary for further examination.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Grootfontein Magistrate’s Court later this week, while police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident continue.
