Couple Remains in Jail After N$619,000 Drug Bust in Henties Bay

A man and woman who were caught with drugs worth N$619,000 in Henties Bay will stay in jail until their next court date on 3 February 2026. They appeared in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court after being arrested last Thursday.

The two, Richard Nanub (53) and Lena Aletta Nanus (41), were arrested during a police undercover operation. Officers found 8,821 grams of cannabis, 1,467 Mandrax tablets, and four pieces of crack cocaine.

Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula said the two were taken into custody after police confirmed they were selling drugs.

The court refused to grant them bail because the case is serious and police are still investigating. The state also said it would not be safe to release them, as they might interfere with the investigation.
