Doctor Appears in Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court Over Prosecutor Shiweda Attack

A northern-based medical practitioner, Dr Fillemon ‘Fly’ Nakanduungile, appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court in connection with the 17 October attack on control and regional court prosecutor, Justine Shiweda.
Nakanduungile has been formally charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine his exact role in the incident.
Former police officer Abner Mateus is among the other suspects already linked to the case.
Shiweda was attacked outside her home last month while preparing for work. She sustained gunshot wounds to her legs and injuries from an acidic substance, requiring several surgical procedures.
The court has remanded Nakanduungile in custody, and his case has been postponed to 16 March 2026.
The arrest follows a media briefing by Oshana Police Regional Commander, Commissioner Sakaria Lungameni, who indicated that more arrests are expected in connection with the case.
