Hit-and-Run Interrupts Venaani’s Speech in Katutura

A hit-and-run accident caused panic on John Tjomainja Street in Katutura Central this Saturday while Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) president McHenry Venaani was delivering his keynote speech.
The incident happened just as Venaani was about to announce his party’s candidates for the upcoming elections. He stopped his speech and refused to continue until medical help arrived for the injured person.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim was still conscious but unable to move or speak after being hit. The driver of a yellow Toyota bakkie sped away from the scene immediately after the accident.
Residents who saw what happened managed to record the vehicle’s number plate and have shared it with the police.
Authorities are investigating the matter and have urged anyone with more information to come forward.
