Katima Mulilo Woman Killed in Brutal Domestic Attack, Husband on the Run

Police in Katima Mulilo are investigating a horrific incident in which a 33-year-old woman from the Chotto location died following an alleged domestic violence attack on Sunday night.
According to authorities, residents in the area reported hearing the woman scream shortly after 21:00. Despite their attempts to help, they were unable to enter the house as it was locked. Witnesses told police they saw the husband, identified as 44-year-old Sydney Steven Naruseb, holding a knife moments before the lights inside the house were switched off.
A short while later, Naruseb allegedly stepped outside and told neighbours to call the police, saying he was “done”, before fleeing the scene barefoot.
The victim, Rachel Ikume Simasiku, was rushed to the Katima Mulilo State Hospital by police officers, but was declared dead upon arrival. Medical staff confirmed she had suffered multiple deep cuts to her face and head.
At the scene, investigators recovered a bloodstained axe handle, strands of human hair, and a smashed cellphone items believed to be linked to the attack. Police say Naruseb is still on the run, and neighbouring stations have been alerted to assist in locating him.
The family of the deceased has been informed, and police have opened a murder case. Investigations are ongoing.
