Lawyer Arrested in Windhoek Over Alleged Shoplifting

Police in Windhoek have arrested a local lawyer following an alleged shoplifting incident at a shopping mall in the city centre on Saturday.
The suspect is currently being held at Klein Windhoek Police Station after being taken into custody shortly after the incident, which has since been confirmed by Namibian Police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi.
According to information from sources familiar with the investigation, authorities reportedly encountered difficulties in establishing the total value of the suspected stolen goods. This was due to the lawyer allegedly refusing to hand over vehicle keys, which were needed to access a car where the items were believed to have been stored.
The matter is expected to be brought before the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where further legal proceedings will take place.
