Man Allegedly Impersonates Boyfriend to Rape 26-Year-Old Woman

A 35-year-old man has been arrested in Lüderitz after allegedly impersonating a woman’s boyfriend to sexually assault her while they were sharing the same room.
According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours after the suspect, the 26-year-old victim, and her boyfriend had been drinking together before going to sleep. The suspect was sleeping on a mattress on the floor, while the couple occupied the bed.
It is alleged that around 03:00, the suspect moved the boyfriend from the bed to the floor and took his place. He then allegedly engaged in sexual activity with the woman, who initially believed she was with her boyfriend.
The victim reportedly realised what was happening and immediately alerted her partner. The incident was then reported to the police.
Both the victim and the suspect underwent medical examinations as part of the investigation. The suspect is expected to appear in the Lüderitz Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 14 April, as investigations continue.
