Man Arrested for Hiding Cannabis in Meat to Smuggle into Police Cells

A 24-year-old man from Uupindi Location has been arrested after allegedly attempting to sneak prohibited items into police holding cells in the Oshana Region.
According to the police, the suspect was caught during a routine search while trying to deliver a container filled with meat pieces. Upon inspection, officers discovered 35 grams of cannabis hidden among the food, along with 11 cigarettes.
Oshana Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Naftal Sakaria, confirmed the incident and warned the public against attempting to smuggle contraband to detainees.
He stressed that law enforcement has intensified its monitoring measures at holding facilities, making it increasingly difficult for such illegal activities to go undetected.
Sakaria further cautioned that individuals involved in smuggling items into cells will face legal consequences, urging the public to comply with the law as police continue to tighten security across the region.
