N$100 000 Snatched in Daylight Robbery in Swakopmund Industrial Area

Police in the Erongo Region are investigating a case of theft from a motor vehicle after a 71-year-old woman was robbed of N$100 000 in cash in broad daylight in Swakopmund’s industrial area on Tuesday morning.
According to Erongo police spokesperson Senior Inspector Judith Shomongula, the incident occurred at around 08:00 while the victim was seated inside her vehicle. She had reportedly placed a black bag containing the cash on the front passenger seat.
It is alleged that an unknown suspect, accompanied by two accomplices, arrived in a grey Mazda Demio. The suspect allegedly approached the victim’s vehicle, opened the passenger door and grabbed the bag before fleeing the scene with the others.
Police said the victim could not provide a clear description of the suspects as the incident happened quickly. No firearms or dangerous weapons were used during the robbery, and the registration number displayed on the getaway vehicle was later confirmed to be fake.
A case of theft from a motor vehicle has been opened at the Swakopmund Police Station.
