Five armed robbers reportedly made off with N$57,000 after attacking two employees of a Shell service station in Oshakati, Oshana Region, on Friday afternoon.

The victims, a supervisor and an employee, were allegedly on their way to a bank to deposit the money when they were confronted by the armed suspects.

After taking the cash, the robbers reportedly hijacked a sedan belonging to a member of the public and used it to flee the area.

The suspects later abandoned the vehicle after one of its tyres burst.

Police are now searching for the suspects, who are believed to be travelling in a white Toyota Camry with no registration number. The vehicle was last seen heading towards Omungwelume Road.

Members of the public with information that could help police identify or locate the suspects are urged to report it to the nearest police station or contact Chief Inspector Thomas Aiyambo on 081 122 8421.

The investigation is ongoing.
