Outjo Man Arrested with N$259,000 Worth of Drugs on Otjiwarongo Road

A 35-year-old man from Outjo is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court this week following his arrest in connection with a drug trafficking case.
The arrest was carried out by police on Tuesday, 21 April, after officers intercepted a vehicle along the Outjo–Otjiwarongo road. During the operation, law enforcement officials discovered a significant quantity of suspected illegal drugs in the vehicle.
According to Otjozondjupa Police Spokesperson and Community Liaison Officer, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the suspect is facing charges related to dealing in mandrax and cannabis. Alternatively, he may be charged with possession of mandrax tablets and cannabis.
Police reported that three parcels of cannabis, commonly known as skunk, were confiscated, weighing a combined 2,782 grams and estimated to be worth over N$139,000 on the street. In addition, officers recovered 999 suspected mandrax tablets with an estimated value of nearly N$120,000.
The total street value of the seized drugs is estimated at approximately N$259,000.
