Police Officer Critically Injured After Attack by Inmates in Rundu Holding Cells

A police officer is fighting for his life after being attacked and stabbed by inmates inside the Rundu Police Station holding cells on Thursday afternoon.
According to information received, the incident happened after the officer instructed a group of inmates to return to their cell. One of them, who is reportedly mentally challenged, suddenly attacked and stabbed the officer in the neck.
The officer sustained a serious injuries and he was rushed to the Rundu State Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Rundu Police Station Commander, Hermine Muranda, confirmed the incident, saying the inmate involved is mentally challenged. She added that the officer is currently receiving medical treatment and remains under close observation.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
