Rundu Police Officer Arrested Over Alleged Slaughter of Five Goats in Tumweneni

A police officer based in Rundu has been arrested following allegations that he stole and slaughtered five goats in the Tumweneni area of the Kavango East Region.
The incident reportedly unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning. According to Eagle FM, which first reported the matter, the officer is accused of killing the goats and loading them into a vehicle before attempting to leave the area.
When he reached a police roadblock at Masivi, officers signalled for him to stop. However, he allegedly ignored the instruction, sparking a pursuit by fellow law enforcement officials.
During the chase, the suspect is said to have abandoned the vehicle in nearby bushes and fled on foot. Officers reportedly discovered bloodstains inside the car, while the slaughtered animals were allegedly discarded along the route.
The goat owner has since opened a stock theft case at the Ndama Police Station.
The arrest comes shortly after two other Rundu-based officers were taken into custody last week on allegations of drug smuggling, raising further concerns about misconduct within the local police ranks.
