Six Arrested Over Disputed Khorixas Council House Sale Appear in Court

The six individuals accused in the controversial Khorixas municipal house sale appeared in the Khorixas Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Each was granted bail of N$5,000.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) announced the arrests on Friday, involving former Khorixas Town Council CEO Nicodemus ǂGaeseb and five former councillors who served between 2010 and 2015: Tryphosa Manthodi Molotho, Andreas Aibeb, Enoir Erwin |Howoseb, Berlinda Xoagub, and Elray Esau.

Investigations revealed that a council house, intended for CEOs, was allegedly sold below its market value. The ACC stated that council funds were used for renovations before the property was sold to ǂGaeseb through the Government’s Alienation Programme, which is restricted to occupants with at least 20 years of residence— a condition ǂGaeseb did not meet.

The ACC is continuing its probe into the matter as part of efforts to tackle corruption in municipal property transactions.
