Six suspects in prosecutor Justine Shiweda murder case remain in custody as court postpones matter

The court proceedings in the murder case of late Control Prosecutor Justine Shiweda were postponed to 8 April 2026 after several of the accused appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The suspects remain in custody while the investigation continues.
Five of the six accused were present during the court appearance, while one suspect did not attend as he is currently being held in Windhoek. During the hearing, the court was informed that arrangements are still being discussed regarding the suspects’ request to have access to phones so they can communicate with their legal representatives.
The first accused, Lukas Nekwiyu, also known as Mane, is being held at Oluno Correctional Facility. Abner Mateus, Petrus Uusiku, Petrus Shikwaya and Dr Fillemon Nakanduungile are detained at Grootfontein Correctional Facility. Ngilifavali Johannes, who did not appear in court, remains in custody in Windhoek.
In a separate case, Petrus Uusiku and Petrus Shikwaya are expected to appear in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on 15 April, where they face additional charges related to conspiracy to commit corruption.
The six accused are facing multiple charges including murder and conspiracy to murder. The case was heard before Magistrate Kaevarua Veruka Njembo, while the State was represented by Prosecutor Yeukai Kangira. The matter will continue when the suspects return to court on the scheduled date next month.
