Soweto Man Hospitalised After Shooting Himself Following Dispute With Wife

A domestic dispute in Windhoek’s Soweto suburb ended with a 46-year-old man critically injured after he deliberately crashed his car into his wife’s vehicle before shooting himself.
The incident happened at about 21:15 on Friday following an argument between the man and his wife.During the dispute, the man reportedly told his wife that he intended to take his own life and that he would first crash into her vehicle.
He then drove out of the yard and deliberately collided with his wife’s stationary car.He subsequently shot himself on the right side of his head.
The man was rushed to Katutura State Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police reportedly recovered a Browning R78 7.65 mm pistol at the scene, with one bullet still in the chamber.
The incident has once again brought attention to how quickly serious domestic disputes can escalate, particularly when threats of self-harm and access to firearms are involved.
