Suspect Hospitalised After Stolen Vehicle Crashes Near Keetmanshoop

Police in Keetmanshoop arrested three male suspects on Saturday following the theft of a vehicle that crashed shortly after being stolen, leaving one suspect seriously injured.
According to police reports, the incident began in the Kronlein residential area, where the suspects allegedly jumped over a perimeter wall and broke into a house. Inside the house, they reportedly found keys for the main gate as well as keys to a Toyota Hilux VVTi bakkie parked in the yard. The vehicle was pushed out of the property before being driven away.
The suspects are also accused of stealing a microwave from the house. The appliance was later found abandoned next to a gravel road in the Noordhoek location. Police say the stolen vehicle was seen being driven recklessly in the area, with the suspects allegedly spinning it around.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle nearly overturned in Noordhoek. At that point, two of the suspects reportedly jumped out, leaving the 31-year-old driver alone in the bakkie. He continued driving at high speed on the gravel road towards Aroab.
Moments later, the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned. Police officers who arrived at the scene found the driver injured and immediately called an ambulance. He was taken to hospital for medical treatment and remains under police guard.
The other two suspects, aged 16 and 17, were later traced and arrested in connection with the incident. Police investigations are continuing.
