Three Arrested After Cannabis Hidden in Food Buckets Discovered at Katima Mulilo Police Cells

Police in Katima Mulilo have arrested three suspects after cannabis was allegedly smuggled into police holding cells concealed underneath buckets of food during visiting hours on Sunday.
According to Julia Sakuwa-Neo, the food parcels were intended for inmates being held in the cells when officers uncovered the suspected drugs during inspections.

Police also confiscated a smartphone, a charger and 220 loose cigarettes during the operation.
The suspects include a 60-year-old Namibian woman, a 33-year-old Zambian woman and a 17-year-old Namibian boy.

The three are expected to appear before court on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, as investigations continue.
