Three, Including Police and Correctional Officer, Arrested Over Fake Medical Certificates in Grootfontein

Three individuals, including members of Namibia’s security forces, are set to appear in court following their arrest over alleged fraudulent activities involving medical documents.
Authorities in the Otjozondjupa Region confirmed that a police officer, a correctional officer, and a hospital labourer were taken into custody in connection with a case of forgery and uttering. The arrests were carried out at the Grootfontein Police Station on Friday morning.
According to Regional Police spokesperson and Community Liaison Officer, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the suspects are accused of producing and using falsified sick leave certificates. It is alleged that the documents were generated at Grootfontein State Hospital and later submitted to their respective employers.
Investigations indicate that the hospital labourer allegedly played a central role in facilitating the scheme by assisting in the creation of the fraudulent medical certificates.
The individuals arrested include a 35-year-old police officer, a 29-year-old correctional officer, and a 34-year-old hospital worker.
All three suspects are expected to make their first court appearance on Monday, 30 March 2026, while police continue with further investigations into the matter.
