Three Officials Arrested Over Misuse of Community Water Tanks in Omaheke

Authorities in the Omaheke Region have intervened after three officials from the Directorate of Rural Water Supply under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform were implicated in alleged corrupt practices involving community water tanks.
According to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the suspects submitted fraudulent requisitions to the Omaheke Regional Government Stores, claiming two 10,000-litre tanks were needed for the communities of Orunarongwe Post in Otjinene Constituency and Otjijaura Post in Epukiro Constituency. Investigations revealed that, although the tanks were removed from the stores in November 2025, they were allegedly diverted for personal gain instead of reaching the intended communities.
The ACC confirmed that the officials’ identities are being withheld as legal proceedings are underway, and they have yet to appear in court. The recovered water tanks have been returned to the Omaheke Regional Government Stores to ensure they can serve the communities as originally intended.
The commission emphasized its ongoing dedication to tackling corruption and safeguarding public resources to benefit Namibia’s communities.
