A police operation in Oshakati on Saturday led to the arrest of two men, aged 26 and 51, who were allegedly found with elephant tusks in their possession without valid permits.

The arrests were carried out around 14h50 along Okatana Road after officers acted on intelligence suggesting the suspects were planning to sell the tusks.

Police say the men were found with wildlife products regarded as controlled items under Namibia’s conservation laws, and were unable to produce the required documentation.

Both suspects remain in police custody while investigations continue.
