Two key suspects in the killing of South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes are finally back on home soil to face trial

Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, who had been fighting extradition from Eswatini, were formally charged this week following their handover to South African authorities. Their return marks a major development in the long-running investigation into the 2023 double murder that shocked the country’s entertainment industry.
The Ndimande brothers are accused of playing a direct role in the deaths of Forbes—one of South Africa’s most celebrated hip-hop artists—and his close friend, chef and entrepreneur Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. The two were gunned down outside a Durban restaurant in February 2023, an attack that sparked national outrage and a high-profile, multi-agency manhunt.
In addition to the murder charges, the brothers also face counts of attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. They will join five other accused individuals who are already in custody when the trial officially gets underway.
Their extradition was completed on Tuesday, 11 November, with the pair arriving at Durban’s international airport under tight security. Police escorted them off the plane in restraints, signalling what authorities say is a significant step toward bringing everyone involved in the case before the courts.
