Usakos Police Officers Granted Bail in Alleged Assault Case

Three police officers from Usakos have been granted bail of N$5,000 each by the Usakos Magistrate’s Court in connection with the alleged assault of 44-year-old Melvin Areseb from Spitzkoppe.

The accused, Raphael Kaundu Reino (39), Jonas Flai (39), and Willem Jantze (21), are facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The incident has drawn significant public attention, prompting legal action against the officers.

Melvin Areseb’s lawyer has indicated plans to file a civil lawsuit seeking N$3 million in damages for the alleged brutality. The case continues to unfold as the legal process progresses.
