Woman Allegedly Shot Dead by Her Boyfriend in Windhoek

A 39-year-old woman was allegedly shot and killed by her boyfriend at Havana Ongos in Windhoek on Friday afternoon, in what police believe is a domestic violence-related incident.
According to Namibian Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the incident occurred at around 13:00 on 24 July 2026. The woman was declared dead at the scene.
Police said the couple had a history of domestic violence. The victim’s next of kin have been informed, while the suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody. Investigations into the case are ongoing.
In a separate incident later that evening, police reported an attempted murder in Windhoek West involving a 45-year-old man.
It is alleged that an intoxicated driver refused to undergo an alcohol test before becoming involved in an argument with police. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly shot the 45-Year-Old in the neck.
The victim was rushed to hospital, where he is receiving medical treatment. The suspect has been taken into police custody, and police investigations are continuing.
