DR Congo Cancels Pre-World Cup Camp Amid Ebola Concerns

The Democratic Republic of Congo has called off its planned pre-World Cup training camp and farewell ceremony in Kinshasa following a worsening Ebola outbreak in the country.
Health authorities report that the outbreak has already claimed more than 150 lives, with close to 700 suspected infections recorded, raising serious public safety concerns.
The disruption comes at a critical time for the national team’s preparations. Much of the squad, including head coach Sébastien Desabre, is based overseas predominantly in France making coordination even more challenging under the current circumstances.
Forward Fiston Mayele remains the only member of the squad currently playing on the African continent, featuring for Egypt’s Pyramids FC.
Officials are expected to explore alternative arrangements as the team adjusts its plans in response to the health crisis.
