Philippine Chief Engineer Found Dead on Tanker at Walvis Bay

The Namibian Police (Nampol) in Walvis Bay have confirmed the discovery of the body of a Philippine national aboard the M/T LEFKAS Tanker on Tuesday, 24 December 2024.
Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, Nampol’s spokesperson, identified the deceased as Wade Pimilo Estrope, 58, who served as the vessel’s Chief Engineer. Estrope’s body was reportedly discovered in a sitting position inside his cabin by a colleague at approximately 7:45 AM.
Upon the tanker’s arrival at Walvis Bay Port, the remains were transferred to the Walvis Bay Police Mortuary for further procedures.
According to the official police report, no foul play is suspected at this stage, and investigations are ongoing. Estrope’s next of kin have been notified of the incident.
