TikTok temporarily restricts late-night LIVE streams in Nigeria

TikTok has announced a temporary pause on its LIVE streaming feature in Nigeria during the late-night hours from 11pm to 5am. The move comes after a significant increase in broadcasts containing explicit sexual content during these hours.
The platform explained that the restriction is intended to protect users and enhance the overall safety of its online community. Over the past period, TikTok has removed more than 49,000 live streams in Nigeria that violated its guidelines by featuring adult content.
The company has not specified how long the restriction will remain in place but stressed its ongoing commitment to ensuring a safer and more responsible environment for all users.
This step aligns with TikTok’s broader efforts to enforce its policies and prevent inappropriate material from reaching audiences, particularly minors.
