Namibian Teen Delton Tshipa Gets European Football Opportunity in Spain

Dama FC Young Player of the Season Delton Tshipa has begun a two-week training and assessment programme with Spanish club SD Huesca, giving the young Namibian an opportunity to experience a professional football development environment in Europe.
Tshipa, who is also the MTC Hopsol U17 top goalscorer, travelled to Spain as part of Dama FC’s efforts to create opportunities for talented young footballers and expose them to professional structures.
According to a statement released by Dama FC on 17 October, a club official is accompanying the youngster to monitor his progress and help him adapt to life in Europe during the programme.

Tshipa is based at SD Huesca’s youth academy, the Base Aragonesa de Fútbol, where he trains alongside the club’s youth teams. The programme also includes access to gym facilities, meals, friendly matches, sports nutrition guidance and opportunities to interact with players from Huesca’s professional first team.
The statement revealed that Tshipa attended his first training session on Thursday, focusing on ball-centred drills, before spending Friday in the gym.
“He is enjoying his time in Spain and looks forward to every session,” the statement said.
SD Huesca previously competed in Spain’s top-flight LaLiga during the 2018/19 and 2020/21 seasons. The club currently competes in the Primera Federación, two divisions below LaLiga, and operates a youth development system for players aged 13 to 18.

Through its academy, the Spanish club focuses on developing young footballers through an integrated training approach led by UEFA-certified coaches.
Dama FC said the opportunity forms part of its commitment to helping talented players access professional football environments beyond Namibia.
The club also expressed its intention to pursue more international engagements in the future as it continues working to create pathways for young footballers.
Tshipa’s two-week programme will give him an opportunity to learn from a different football environment, improve his understanding of the game and experience the demands of training within a European club’s youth development system.
