Fire Destroys NWR Staff Quarters at Sesriem
A fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon at the Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) staff accommodation in Sesriem, leaving extensive damage to property and displacing dozens of employees.
According to the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology’s Hardap Regional Office, firefighters were still on the scene battling the flames, while the cause of the incident remains unknown. No injuries or fatalities have been reported.
NWR spokespersons confirmed that the affected employees are stationed at the Sesriem Campsite and Sossusvlei Dune Lodge. About 75 staff members are housed at the Sesriem quarters, although the full extent of the damage has not yet been established.
The company said it will release more details once assessments have been completed.
