Government hands over 24 Mass Housing homes in Opuwo
Government has handed over 24 newly completed houses under the Mass Housing Development Programme in Opuwo, as part of ongoing efforts to improve access to affordable housing.
The houses were officially handed over by the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Hon. Sankwasa James Sankwasa, on Thursday. The latest batch consists of three social houses and 21 credit-linked houses.
According to Sankwasa, the project builds on the first phase of the development, which delivered 53 houses that are now all occupied.
Addressing the beneficiaries during the handover ceremony, the minister urged homeowners to take responsibility for maintaining their properties and to honour their monthly repayment commitments to ensure the long-term sustainability of the housing programme.
The Mass Housing Development Programme is one of government’s initiatives aimed at reducing Namibia’s housing backlog by providing affordable homes to qualifying beneficiaries across the country.
