MICT Raises Over N$1.2 Million in Sponsorship for 9th ICT Summit
The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has secured more than N$1.2 million in sponsorship for the upcoming 9th ICT Summit, with contributions received across the Platinum, Gold, Diamond and Silver sponsorship categories.
The sponsorship package also includes several in-kind contributions, providing the summit with technical expertise, resources and strategic partnerships.
Speaking at the launch of the 9th ICT Summit and sponsorship handover lunch on Friday, 28 August 2026, Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, called on government, the private sector, academia and civil society to work together in building an inclusive digital ecosystem that leaves no Namibian behind.
Theofelus said Namibia’s ambitious digital transition cannot be driven by government alone, expressing appreciation to corporate partners, industry players, public enterprises and other sponsors for their financial support, resources and shared vision.
She emphasised that investing in platforms such as the ICT Summit provides an opportunity for businesses and investors to contribute directly to Namibia’s digital transformation and the future of its people.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Wenzel Kavaka, said Namibia, like other developing countries, has entered a new phase of the digital revolution.
Kavaka stressed that Namibia cannot afford to remain on the sidelines of this transformation, calling for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to develop digital environments that are dynamic, secure and capable of empowering citizens and businesses.
The Ministry said it is determined to ensure that the 9th ICT Summit delivers meaningful outcomes, with the impact of the event measured not only by attendance but also by tangible results achieved after the summit.
The 9th ICT Summit is scheduled to take place from 12 to 16 October 2026 at the Ongwediva Trade Centre.
The summit will explore how technology can support inclusive service delivery, improve education and business productivity, and create opportunities for young Namibians in the ICT sector.
MICT has encouraged businesses, organisations and civil society to come on board as sponsors and partners as preparations for the summit continue.
