Namibian Correctional Service Announces Recruitment of 400 New Recruits

The Namibian Correctional Service (NCS), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, has announced a national recruitment drive for 400 new correctional service recruits for Intake 1/2026.
According to the official circular issued by Commissioner-General R. T. Hamunyela, all correctional institutions across the country have been directed to display the recruitment notice and begin receiving application forms from interested candidates.

Minimum Requirements for New Recruits
Applicants must:
- Hold a Grade 12 NSSCO/H or NSSCO Grade 11 New Curriculum certificate with at least 25 points in six subjects, including an E symbol in English.
- Be Namibian citizens aged 19 to 35 years.
- Have no criminal record or pending cases.
- Have no visible tattoos when wearing the NCS uniform.
- Be medically fit and prepared to undergo written and physical tests.
- Be ready to attend nine months of basic training at the Lucius S. Mahoto Training College in Omaruru.
- Be prepared for deployment to any correctional institution in Namibia.
Former Correctional Officers May Also Apply
Former officers under the age of 45 with clean records and a Basic Training Certificate may apply for re-appointment as Correctional Officer I (COI).
Application Process
Correctional institutions have been instructed to:
- Receive and screen all applications.
- List separately those who do not meet the requirements.
