NamRA Introduces Mandatory Trader Identification Number for All Imports and Exports from April 2026 – The Updated World

The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has announced a new requirement for all cross-border trade 11 December 2025, Windhoek: from 1 April 2026, all goods imported into or exported out of Namibia must be accompanied by a valid Trader Identification Number (TIN) in the ASYCUDAWorld system.

This new rule affects importers, exporters, transporters, shipping companies, clearing agents, bonded warehouses, and anyone involved in the country’s trade operations. According to NamRA, the TIN is a unique number issued to individuals and businesses engaged in cross-border trade. Its purpose is to strengthen the monitoring of customs transactions, ensure compliance with international standards, and help combat fraud, smuggling, and false declarations.

NamRA outlined key requirements for traders and agents:

  1. All customs declarations must include a valid TIN for the importer, exporter, declarant, or other relevant parties.
  2. TINs must be properly linked to ASYCUDAWorld accounts before any customs transaction.
  3. New or unregistered traders must apply for a TIN with NamRA before importing or exporting goods.
  4. Clearing agents must maintain accurate and up-to-date TIN records for their clients in ASYCUDAWorld.

NamRA has warned that any customs declaration submitted without a valid TIN will be rejected, and goods will not be processed or released until the correct TIN is provided.
