Over 13,700 Applications Flood National Youth Development Fund

Namibia’s National Youth Development Fund has drawn 13,756 applications from across the country, underscoring the high demand among young people seeking financial support to grow their businesses.

The |Khomas Region submitted the largest number with 3,417 applications, followed by Erongo (2,000), Kavango East (1,377), Ohangwena (1,060), and Oshana (1,014). Regions with fewer than 1,000 applications included Oshikoto (985), Omusati (691), Hardap (650), Kavango West (614), Otjozondjupa (612), and Omaheke (560). The ||Kharas Region registered 318 applications, Zambezi 260, while Kunene recorded the lowest at 198.

The fund targets youth between the ages of 18 and 35, and caters to both registered and unregistered businesses.

Governor Sam Nujoma of the |Khomas Region praised the turnout, noting on social media that the strong participation demonstrates the growing entrepreneurial drive among Namibia’s youth.

The government has set aside N$257 million for the initiative, aimed at boosting youth-owned enterprises and strengthening the economy through innovation and job creation.
