Pipeline Repairs Progress After Truck Crashes Into Rundu Water Supply Trench

A truck that plunged into a trench yesterday, severely damaging a section of the pipeline supplying the Rundu water system, has now been removed from the site. The contractor is currently carrying out repair work, which includes replacing and welding the affected pipe to restore normal water flow.
The accident happened when the truck lost air pressure while attempting to climb the incline on Rundu Beach Road. This mechanical failure caused the driver to lose control, resulting in the vehicle crashing into the trench where work on the pipeline was underway.
The Rundu Town Council stated that areas connected to the main water supply network are expected to have water restored during the course of the day, once repairs and system testing are completed.
