Police urge businesses to step up security as crime remains a concern in Katima Mulilo
Zambezi Regional Police Commander Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo has called on business owners in Katima Mulilo to take a more active role in fighting crime after expressing disappointment over the low turnout at a stakeholder meeting on business security.
The engagement, held on Thursday, was organised to discuss crime affecting the local business community, particularly cases of housebreaking and theft that continue to be reported in Katima Mulilo.
Sakuwa-Neo said the poor attendance was unfortunate, as the meeting was intended to find practical solutions to security challenges facing businesses in the town.
She urged business owners to strengthen security measures by employing trained security guards, installing CCTV cameras and alarm systems, and promptly reporting suspicious activities to the police.
The regional commander said crime prevention requires cooperation between the police and the business community, adding that the Namibian Police Force will continue engaging stakeholders to improve safety and protect businesses from criminal activities.
