Proflight Zambia Launches Direct Lusaka–Windhoek Route to Boost Regional Connectivity

Proflight Zambia has officially inaugurated its first direct flight from Lusaka to Windhoek, with the aircraft landing at Hosea Kutako International Airport on Tuesday afternoon. This historic flight marks a significant milestone in enhancing air connectivity between the two Southern African nations and is expected to facilitate stronger economic, diplomatic, and tourism links.
The inaugural flight was part of Proflight Zambia’s strategic expansion plan aimed at improving regional travel and creating new opportunities for business and leisure travelers. The airline, known for its commitment to safety and reliability, has introduced this route in response to growing demand for efficient and convenient connections between Zambia and Namibia.
Onboard the flight was Zambia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Tayali, who described the launch as “a vital step toward deepening regional integration and promoting trade, tourism, and people-to-people connections.” He was accompanied by Namibia’s High Commissioner to Zambia, Goms Menette, emphasizing the mutual commitment of both nations to strengthening bilateral relations.
At Hosea Kutako International Airport, the aircraft was officially received by Namibia’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Jenelle Matundu, alongside Bisey /Uirab, CEO of Namibia Airports Company. Speaking during the reception ceremony, Deputy Minister Matundu highlighted the importance of the route in promoting economic cooperation and facilitating easier travel for business professionals, tourists, and diplomatic delegations.
Industry analysts note that the new Lusaka-Windhoek service is expected to significantly reduce travel time and provide a reliable alternative to indirect regional flights. This development also aligns with broader efforts by Southern African countries to improve regional transport infrastructure, boost tourism, and create opportunities for investment and trade.

The launch of this service is part of a broader trend in Southern Africa, where airlines are expanding their networks to improve regional connectivity and support economic growth. Proflight Zambia’s commitment to quality service and operational excellence is expected to strengthen ties between Zambia and Namibia, while also contributing to the growth of the regional aviation sector.
With this inaugural flight successfully completed, Proflight Zambia has set the stage for regular services between Lusaka and Windhoek, providing a much-needed link for travelers, traders, and government officials, and reinforcing the shared goal of closer collaboration across Southern Africa.
