44 Homes Destroyed in Aussenkehr Inferno, Dozens Left Homeless

44 homes were reduced to ashes after a fire swept through Aussenkehr’s Block Five on Saturday afternoon.
Police reports indicate that the blaze broke out between 13:00 and 14:00, starting in a single house before rapidly spreading to neighbouring structures while residents were away at work.
The fire reportedly destroyed household belongings as well as important personal documents belonging to the affected families.
During the incident, one resident, identified as 36-year-old Salomon Maketa, suffered burns to his feet while trying to salvage his possessions. He was treated for minor injuries at a nearby clinic and later discharged. No deaths were recorded.
The Namibian Police have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the fire.
