Learner Killed, Six Injured in Zambezi Crash
An 18-year-old school learner died and six others were injured after the Toyota Wish they were travelling in overturned in the Sachona area of the Zambezi Region on Sunday afternoon.
The accident happened at about 16h50 on the gravel road between Lizauli and Sachona.
Zambezi Regional Commander Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo said the seven people involved in the crash were all school learners.
Police allege that the 26-year-old driver, who was reportedly not licensed to drive, lost control of the vehicle after swerving to avoid goats that were crossing the road.
The deceased was identified as Kumana Miliko.
The six injured learners, aged between 17 and 21, were taken to Katima Mulilo Hospital for medical treatment.
The driver was arrested following the crash, and police investigations are continuing.
