Another Suspected Food Poisoning Case Reported in Kavango West Claims Life of 12-Year-Old Girl

Health authorities in the Kavango West Region are investigating the death of a 12-year-old girl following a suspected food poisoning incident involving traditional spinach, locally known as mboga at Ngcagi Village, an incident that has added to growing public concern and marks the fourth suspected food poisoning case reported in the region this month.

According to the Eagle FM Journalist, Annackleta Haikera who break the news, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the minor reportedly fell ill shortly after consuming the meal. A source close to the family said she collapsed and died while being transported to Bunya Health Centre for urgent medical care.

Three other individuals who allegedly ate from the same pot were admitted to Bunya Health Centre for observation. They were later discharged and are reported to be in stable condition.

Police have collected samples of the suspected food as part of ongoing investigations aimed at establishing the exact cause of the incident.

Her body was later taken to the Bunya mortuary, and her next of kin have since been informed.
