The Windhoek Magistrate’s Court has granted bail of N$200,000 to businessman Panduleni Hamukwaya, one of the accused in the high-profile corruption case linked to the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR).

Hamukwaya, who has been in custody since July 2025, is facing allegations that funds suspected to be proceeds of crime were deposited into his personal bank account. The State alleges the money is connected to irregularities at the national oil company.

He is married to former NAMCOR finance director Jennifer Hamukwaya, who is also among those charged in the matter.

The case forms part of a broader investigation into alleged fraud and corruption at NAMCOR, which has so far seen 14 individuals arrested. The accused are expected to return to court on 21 April, when they are scheduled to enter their pleas.

The granting of bail now allows Hamukwaya to remain out of custody as the case proceeds through the courts.
