Elderly Farmer Found Dead in Suspected Suicide Near Otjinene

A 77-year-old man was found dead at his residence on a farm in the Otjinene Constituency on Friday morning in a case that police are treating as a suspected suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Johannes Petrus Vorster, a Namibian citizen who lived at Summerdown Portion 03 of Farm Summerdown.
According to preliminary police information, Vorster was discovered with a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest, beneath the breast. Authorities who attended the scene indicated that there were no signs suggesting the involvement of another person.
Police have stated that no foul play is suspected at this stage, although investigations are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death.
Police investigations remain ongoing.
