Elephants Invade Farm in Kaenda Village

Residents of Kaenda Village in the Sibbinda Constituency are currently living in fear after a herd of elephants invaded a local farm and remained there overnight.
The incident involves the farm of Mr. Retief Liswaniso, which is situated approximately 43 kilometres from Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region. According to the villagers, the elephants are still present on the property and continue to pose a significant threat to community safety, livestock, and crops.
Despite reporting the situation to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, the community has yet to receive a response or see any officials arrive to assist. Residents have expressed their frustration regarding this delay, emphasizing that urgent intervention is required to prevent further damage to their livelihoods and to ensure the safety of local families.
Human-wildlife conflict remains a serious and recurring challenge in the Zambezi Region, as elephants frequently traverse villages and farming areas while searching for water and food.
