Family Beach Outing Turns Tragic at Swakopmund’s Platz am Meer

A Sunday family outing to Swakopmund’s Platz am Meer beach ended in heartbreak when two 12-year-old girls were dragged into the ocean by strong currents, leaving one child dead and the other fighting for recovery.
The incident occurred during the afternoon on Sunday when the girls, identified as Kayla Gases and Lizelle Ganases, were caught off-guard by a sudden pull of the tide. Bystanders attempted to assist, but the force of the water made rescue efforts difficult.
