Former Walvis Bay Mayor Granted Bail in Corruption Case

Former Walvis Bay Mayor Wilfred Immanuel appeared in the Walvis Bay Magistrates Court this week on charges of corruptly using his office for gratification during his tenure.
Immanuel, who served as mayor of the coastal town in previous years, was granted bail of N$10,000 following his first court appearance. The matter has since been transferred to the regional court, where proceedings are scheduled to continue on 8 December.

While the allegations relate to the suspected misuse of his official position, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has not yet released a detailed statement outlining the specifics of the charges. The ACC is expected to provide further information as investigations progress.
