MTC Introduces eSIM to OPM in Major Digital Shift

The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has taken a major step toward digital modernization after Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) officially introduced eSIM technology to the institution today.
According to MTC, the initiative aims to strengthen government communication systems and improve connectivity across key administrative operations. The move is regarded as a milestone in the country’s broader push toward digital transformation within the public sector.
As part of the rollout, OPM management successfully migrated all official mobile numbers from physical SIM cards to eSIM. The transition is expected to streamline internal communication, boost operational efficiency, and reduce logistical challenges often associated with traditional SIM card replacements or physical handling.
The adoption of eSIM technology also enhances security and enables more flexible remote access to government platforms a critical aspect in improving service delivery and maintaining uninterrupted operations.
MTC said its collaboration with the OPM highlights its commitment to driving innovation in governance and supporting the development of smarter, more responsive public services in Namibia.
