New 2G and 4G Tower Launched in Ombombo With 6km Coverage
Residents and communities around Ombombo in the Kunene Region now have access to improved mobile services following the activation of a new telecommunications tower.
The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) confirmed that the Ombombo Tower was officially activated on Friday, 25 September 2026.
The newly operational tower provides both 2G and 4G services and has a coverage radius of approximately six kilometres, extending mobile access to people in the surrounding communities.
According to MICT, the tower was constructed through direct funding from the Government of the Republic of Namibia as part of efforts to expand telecommunications infrastructure in underserved areas.
The activation gives residents in Ombombo improved access to mobile communication and digital services.
The development is part of ongoing efforts to expand mobile network coverage and improve access to digital connectivity across Namibia.
