Ngurare Invites Cuban Youth to Study in Namibia

Namibia is seeking to deepen its longstanding relationship with Cuba by expanding cooperation in sectors such as education, healthcare, youth development, water infrastructure and engineering.
Prime Minister Dr. Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare made the proposal during a welcoming dinner with his Cuban counterpart, H.E. Manuel Marrero Cruz, at El Laguito, Cubanacan Hall in Havana.
Ngurare said Namibia’s historical ties with Cuba, particularly the support Cuba provided during Namibia’s struggle for political independence, should now form the foundation for stronger cooperation aimed at achieving economic development and self-reliance.
He outlined Namibia’s seven key development priorities to the Cuban Prime Minister, highlighting the importance of investing in young people and strengthening cultural and educational exchanges between the two countries.
Ngurare also encouraged Cuban young people to consider Namibia as a destination for education and skills development.
“The Cuban young people should feel free to come and study in Namibia,” he said, extending an invitation to Cuban youth.

Beyond education and youth programmes, the Prime Minister called for increased exchanges of technical knowledge and engineering expertise, particularly in the development of water infrastructure.
He said greater cooperation in water-related projects could contribute significantly to improving food security and strengthening communities.
The proposed areas of cooperation are aimed at building stronger people-to-people connections while creating opportunities for both Namibia and Cuba to share knowledge, skills and expertise for sustainable development.
