Suspected Drowning Reported Near Likute Lodge in Zambezi

Police in the Zambezi Region are searching for a 32-year-old man who is suspected to have drowned after he allegedly disappeared while swimming in a river near Likute Lodge on Sunday morning.
Regional Police Commander Commissioner Julia Sakuwa-Neo said the man had spent the night at the lodge after security guards noticed he was heavily intoxicated. The guards reportedly allowed him to remain at the lodge until the following morning for his safety.
According to Sakuwa-Neo, the man later entered the river and was seen swimming before he disappeared beneath the water.
Police, with the assistance of the man’s family, launched a search operation using a boat. However, the search did not locate the missing man.
Authorities say the search is expected to continue as efforts to recover the man remain.
